The current app icon had a number of significant problems, such as low visibility and non-descriptive concept, so the client approached us with a request for an icon redesign to improve the visibility and performance of their app in the app markets. The designed icon combines two trending symbols – a human profile and a light bulb, which is easily associated with solving puzzles or a solution that has arisen in the mind. The letter B (the capital letter of the app name) is incorporated into the symbol for consistency with the brand.
The decision to make the icon in handwritten style was made after analysing the target audience – the app is designed for different age groups, including teenagers.
The app icon rebranding improved the visibility and performance of the app in the app markets. It allowed to achieve large share of organic installs (49%) and increase the number of installers (+54%)
